France's Vincent Jay won the gold medal in men's 10 km biathlon sprint at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games on Sunday.

Jay shot clean and finished with 24 minutes 7.8 seconds.

The silver medal went to Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen who missed one shot and lost 12.2 seconds to the Frenchman. Croatia's Jakov Fak took the bronze.

Norway's Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, five-time Olympic champion, missed four shots. He finished 1 minute 41.1 seconds behind Jay.

Russia's Ivan Tcherezov came tenth, losing 1 minute 18.1 seconds to Jay. Evgeny Ustyugov finished 15th, Anton Shipulin 30th, and Maxim Chudov 63rd.

Complicated weather conditions - heavy snow and zero temperatures - were the reason for athletes making numerous target misses.
