Talking to the Taliban?

President Obama tells the New York Times he is open to talking to some elements of the Taliban, but can the lessons from Iraq apply to Afghanistan? Obama said that some of the success in Iraq involved reaching out to Islamic fundamentalists who had been alienated by the tactics of al Qaeda in Iraq.
