Marussia Motors president demonstrates how Russia’s first sports car is assembled

The designers behind the Marussia, a prototype Russian sports car, say it meets the most stringent car safety requirements. President of Marussia Motors Nikolai Fomenko showed RIA Novosti journalists the manual assembly line of Russia’s first sports car.

The Marussias – there are three Marussia models – are 80% made in Russia. The rest is produced under cooperation agreements with the world’s leading auto components manufacturers, such as Canada’s KW and Britain-based Cosworth.

The current models include В1 and В2 Grand Turismo; Marussia SUVs will be available to buy from spring. The company also has several surprises in store for the Frankfurt Auto Show 2011.

Sales will begin once the first Marussia Motors show room opens in Moscow, at 17 Tverskaya Street on September 10. The В1 and В2 Grand Turismo cars will cost around 100,000 euros.
