TASHKENT, February 16 (RIA Novosti) - Over 23 kilograms of heroin (50 lbs) have been seized from drug dealers in southern Uzbekistan, a spokesman for the National Security Service said on Monday.
Officers detained three people on suspicion of dealing 350 grams of heroin in the Surkhandarya Province and obtained information on the supplier.
"The search of his place revealed over 23 kilograms of heroin, about two kilograms of hashish, 273 empty cellophane packets, some $16,000 as well as some other foreign currency," the spokesman said.
The region borders on Afghanistan, the world's heroin production leader.
