NEW DELHI, February 25 (RIA Novosti) - A bus carrying dozens of passengers plunged into a river in India's state of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning killing at least 33 people, a local police chief said.
Another 19 passengers on the bus, which was designed to carry 32 people, were injured in the accident.
Deputy police chief, Alok Puri, was cited by The Times of India as saying that the accident occurred when the bus swerved off the road and rolled down a bank into the Neeru River.
The rescue operation is continuing.
The bus was en route to Doda, the capital of the Doda administrative district in southern Kashmir.
