Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh - injured in a rocket attack on his compound on June 3 - will spend up to six months in hospital in Saudi Arabia, a source close to Saleh told RIA Novosti on the condition of anonymity.

"His conditions is still grave, however he is recovering...His doctors say that the treatment may take from three to up to six months. Now he is undergoing burn treatment procedures, including plastic surgery," the source said.

Last week, Saleh's spokesman, Ahmed al-Sufi said that the president would hold a news conference appearance within 48 hours. Saleh however failed to appear.

"The president's health and appearance did not allow," the source said.

Saleh has refused to cede power in the face of a popular uprising which has brought the country to the brink of civil war.
