The New York Office of the Attorney General called on the judge to reject an appeal against the guilty verdict of Russian national Viktor Bout, convicted for arms trafficking.

In the 27-page document, signed by Southern District of New York Attorney Preet Bharara, prosecutors ask to reject the appeal in full.

Bout, 44, was arrested in Thailand in 2008 and convicted in November 2011 for conspiracy to kill Americans, to acquire and use anti-aircraft missiles and to provide material support to terrorists in Columbia.

His lawyer Albert Dayan earlier said the first two counts on which Bout was convicted - the conspiracy to kill U.S. citizens and officials - were not proven in court.

The court will announce Bout's sentence on February 8. Bout could face from 25 years to life in jail.
